Blackguards 2

Blackguards 2 was largely verbatim, accurate transcription of the rules and principles of The Dark Eye desktop system into the language of a computer RPG. A detachment of heroes of different races and classes traveled around the map and participated in step-by-step battles, distracting themselves to walking around the shops in the breaks in search of new equipment. Everything focused precisely on complex tactical battles, offering a fairly linear plot and rare side quests. In the sequel to the battle even more, they are more difficult, and additional tasks in the usual sense disappeared altogether. Nevertheless, it became better to play, it became more fun to play.​

About This Game

​Nonlinearity also increased. Firstly, the variability of the gameplay structure now has to variability, which already resembles a strategy on a global map more than a classic RPG. On this same map, we choose which of the possessions of Marwan to be captured as follows: it could be the city, the fortress, the palace of his henchman, and so on. Captured three points — getting ready to reflect the counterattack at one of the points. And so — the whole game. We don’t give out any side quests in the cities — here you will not meet the suffering local residents.

However, this did not become more boring — quite the contrary. Instead of helping inconsolable mothers who have lost children in the forest and lazy merchants who urgently need something to pass on to someone, we are engaged in much more interesting, strategic (and truly non-linear) planning. All points on the map are connected by roads, and those branch out and lead in different directions. Accordingly, you are free to go along different routes, focusing on what bonuses each captured city gives — these may be advantages to the characteristics of your mercenaries, new products in the shop and even a chance to get into the ranks of the Silent Legion of a new recruit, such as a mage or a murderer.​
