Riven

Riven is an adventure puzzle game set in a fantastical, otherworldly environment. Gamers take on the role of a stranger who has been summoned into the Age of Riven by Atrus, a man with the ability to create and connect with other worlds called Ages. The goal is to explore the islands that make up the Age of Riven, solving puzzles and uncovering the setting’s secrets in order to rescue Atrus wife Catherine, who is being held captive by his father, Gen. The gameplay is a first-person game in which users must navigate through various islands and solve puzzles to move forward.

Game mechanics include inventory-based puzzles, where users must collect and use items found throughout the world to solve puzzles and progress. The game also uses a unique «travel» system, where users can enter and exit areas by clicking on certain symbols. The action takes place in a beautifully rendered, pre-rendered 3D world that is rich in detail and atmosphere. There are locations such as Temple Island, Jungle Island, Prison Island, Fire Marble City and Age 2334. Each location is unique and has its own set of puzzles and tasks.

The story is told through a series of cutscenes and in-game dialogue that flesh out the plot and characters. The main characters are Atrus, Katrin, Gehn and the Stranger (user character). There are also a variety of different items and weapons included, including a book of connections, a book of traps, a blue page, a red page, and a white page.
