BAKERU

BAKERU is an action-adventure game set in a fantasy Japan that combines modern elements with traditional folklore. Players control the protagonist Bakeru, armed with a magical drum, as he battles the oracle Saitaro and his festival army across 47 Japanese prefectures. The game features over 50 stages, each inspired by a different region of Japan, offering a unique blend of cultural motifs and fairytale aesthetics. The gameplay revolves around Buckaroo’s ability to transform into legendary Japanese heroes such as Kintaro and Momotaro, each with their own special skills. With simple controls, players navigate through enemies and traps using the drum and Buckaroo’s transformation abilities.

The Steam release adds new attacks such as the Hurricane and Spinning Top, as well as a challenging lantern boss. BAKERU also includes a variety of gameplay elements, such as vehicle transformation stages for racing and aerial combat. With a combination of action, cultural references, and varied level design, BAKERU offers a unique gaming experience that brings Japanese folklore to life in a fun and accessible way.
