Description
FACEMINER is a gripping action-packed simulation game that launched in 2025, brought to you by Wristwork and published by Wristwork Ltd. Set in the eerie glow of 1999, you’re thrust into the role of a rookie data miner tasked with building a biometric empire from the ground up. As part of a shadowy corporation, your job is to harvest faces, classify data, and scale an AI surveillance network, all while the world teeters on the edge of pre-Y2K chaos. Released on February 27, 2025, this indie gem blends strategy with a chilling narrative, pulling you into a dystopian clicker where every choice shapes your rise or fall.
The gameplay in FACEMINER mixes fast-paced clicking action with deep strategic management. You’ll start small, sorting through biometric scraps, then upgrade your tech think cooling systems and server farms to handle a flood of data from an unsuspecting planet. Each click drives your empire forward, but the stakes climb with power bills, carbon schemes, and a creeping sense of unease from the office chatter you uncover via in-game messages. Wristwork has crafted a simulation that’s easy to pick up yet layered with tension, perfect for anyone who loves indie games with a dark twist and a retro vibe.
Now out in 2025, FACEMINER is ready to hook you with its unsettling charm. Download the latest version from Wristwork Ltd to dive into this evolving thriller, complete with updates like new story beats and smoother gameplay since its debut. Whether you’re drawn to the action, the strategy, or the haunting 90s soundtrack by Madwreck, it’s a wild ride worth taking grab it today and see how far you’ll go to harvest every face.

2.1.0 Mini Update Hello! A mix of minor bugfixes & features here, mostly related to the recent Endless Expanded mode and VR functionality. Thank you to all who suggested these. Endless Mode: — Cameras can now be purchased in bulk, to save you some clicking. Buy them in batches of 1, 10, or 100. — Custom harvesting sell intervals: you can now pick how often to sell harvested data in the Surveillance manager. — Nuclear Reactors now show up in the 3D visualiser — $ figures in the hardware monitor and marketplace now show their full formatted value on hover, to make it a little easier to read those very big numbers. — Small tweaks to dark mode to make it more legible. VR: — Passthrough is now available! You can enable it in the settings menu, if you have a compatible headset. — You can now customise the tilt angle of the controller in the settings menu Bugfixes: — Fix bug where pausing would allow the player skip the purchase cooldown in the marketplace [potential speedrun exploit!] — Fix edges of the taskbar being cut off when FX disabled — Fix bug where downgrading very high level cameras would not be reflected in the surveillance hub camera count Other tweaks: — Added option to disable the Steam overlay in the settings menu. This is a temporary workaround for an issue where the overlay implementation of the library I am using to interact with Steam can cause multiple game tabs to spawn on certain Windows 11 machines. — Per request: made it impossible to delete unused cluster code messages. — Made it less likely for the same face to appear in sequential draws when manually processing. As always, thank you for playing.
The latest version of FACEMINER is now live, which has the following changes:Game size reduction! Through a mixture of optimizing audio/images/model files, and removing some unused assets, the game file size has been reduced by 30-40%, depending on your platform. As well as freeing up some disk space, this should give a little performance boost generally. Thank you to qwertyyyyyyy for kickstarting this and providing a very useful FFmpeg script, among other things.New FPS limiter option in the settings menu which caps the FPS at 60FPS, for those who the game was already running a little bit too well.Tweaks to make achievements more robust, including fix for bug where some cats would not trigger the CATMINER achievement. Unacceptable.Tweaks to tutorial language, based on some IRL playtesting observations (see below)Other stuff: Fix BSOD text in Japanese version, hopefully fix issue where game would ask for microphone permissions for small percentage of Mac users.
A quick globalization strategy update for our international stakeholders: we are excited to announce that FACEMINER is now available to play in French and Polish, which brings us to 9 languages total. After updating, they should now be available to select in the settings menu. The pool of FACEMINER agents grows stronger and more multilingual by the day.MICRO FEATURE:- In Endless Mode, add an option to automatically sell harvested data every 10 seconds via the Surveillance Hub. Maybe that saves you some clicks. Thanks to 47GodlikeKittinSoldier for posting the idea on the discussion board!BUGS:- Made it impossible to open more than one instance of FACEMINER (as in the actual Steam Game, not the in-game-meta-software), which will hopefully help to resolve any remaining Windows 11 alt+tab issues.- More work towards ensuring Endless Mode remains stable during longer sessions for all users. Do let me know if you are still running into issues after this update.- Made clock position more robust across different resolutions.
