Description
Look Outside, developed by Francis Coulombe and published by Devolver Digital, emerges in 2025 as an RPG adventure steeped in unrelenting horror. Players awaken to a world plunged into chaos, confined within the warped walls of a single apartment building where a mysterious phenomenon has transformed the curious into grotesque abominations. The premise is chillingly simple: peering out the window triggers a monstrous fate, leaving survivors to navigate a claustrophobic labyrinth of dread and desperation.
The story centers on a lone resident grappling with the unknown. Venturing beyond the safety of their apartment, gamers explore dimly lit corridors and abandoned rooms, scavenging for food, weapons, and scraps of truth amid the wreckage of their neighbors’ lives. The RPG mechanics shine through turn based combat, pitting players against over 150 hand crafted creatures, each a testament to Coulombe’s mastery of pixel art terror. From multi mouthed beasts to eyeball laden horrors, every encounter demands strategic precision, with positioning and makeshift gear shaping the outcome of these tense clashes.
Horror permeates every corner, amplified by the game’s retro aesthetic and haunting sound design, evoking a sense of inescapable doom. Adventure unfolds as players recruit uneasy allies from the building’s survivors, forging bonds or facing betrayal in a bid to unravel the enigma outside. Resource management adds a layer of survival stakes, forcing tough choices: risk a perilous expedition or hunker down with dwindling supplies. With multiple endings and a playtime spanning three to six hours, the experience invites replay to uncover its dark secrets. Dive into this indie nightmare and download the latest version to test your courage in Look Outside, a 2025 standout that melds RPG depth with horror’s raw edge.
