Short Snow

Short Snow drops the player into a vast, snowy landscape after a plane crash. Existence immediately depends on controlling body temperature, hunger, and thirst in a harsh environment. Adding to the challenge is an unknown virus that causes progressive muscle paralysis, leaving victims paralyzed in the cold. The player must scavenge materials from the area to craft tools, find shelter from the elements, and explore the wreckage for clues or supplies.

The gameplay in Short Snow offers different experiences through two separate playthroughs. The Story Path provides a structure for the protagonist to develop his or her personality and understand the past as they search for other survivors and a way home. Alternatively, the Survival mode is an open-ended sandbox; here, the scavenging and crafting options are greatly expanded, giving the freedom to establish settlements or explore a large area without predetermined objectives. The player sets the goals and pace in this open-ended scenario.

Exploring the world requires finding and using the resources needed to continue living in the forest landscape. Building defensive structures is the basis of activities to overcome environmental hazards. In addition, the wilderness contains predators that the inhabitants must either directly encounter or actively avoid in order to survive. Navigating this open space dictates constant vigilance for the immediate needs and possible threats encountered during the exploration of this game.
