SCP Control Error

SCP Control Error is a psychological horror game that puts you in the shoes of Barry Gittings, a volunteer test subject at the secret Vortex Facility in 1985, a Cold War-era underground research facility with sinister aims. As Barry, you’ll navigate sealed research chambers and complete challenging cognitive tests, piecing together the facility’s dark history from scattered documents and reports left by previous test subjects who may never have made it out. This first-person adventure focuses on atmospheric tension rather than cheap thrills, delivering 30-45 minutes of psychological suspense without jumping around or fighting.

Gameplay focuses on puzzle solving and environmental exploration, letting the facility’s ominous atmosphere and cryptic writings tell the story rather than overt exposition. What sets this indie horror game apart is its emergent narrative structure — players choices in community actually influences the game’s development, mirroring how the SCP Foundation itself evolves through shared storytelling.

Created by the enigmatic solo developer «Chieftain Artworks» (an enigmatic figure in the SCP community), the game delivers the Foundation’s signature blend of clinical documentation and cosmic horror. The Cold War setting adds an extra layer of paranoia to an already unsettling experience, where you’re constantly being watched, but you’re never quite sure who or what.
