Description
Scavland places the player in a top-down pixel universe following the collapse of Soviet-era society. Characters navigate this world transformed by conflict and the encroaching Fog, gathering materials, taking on quests, and finding shelter in settlements. The wasteland generates relentless opposition; entities and the environment actively seek to end the protagonist's existence.
In Scavland, survival is the primary goal for heroes called Scavs, who survive through exploration and combat to escape the cycle of poverty. Society is torn apart by war and the mysterious Fog. Mutants and bandits attack; radiation and Fog seep into the body, insidiously pushing towards death. Each foray into locations that offer protection is fraught with risk, so the gameplay requires adaptation and effort to truly thrive. The social order is broken, placing the player character at the bottom of the hierarchy.
Ammunition is scarce, any weapon can misfire, and enemies show no mercy. Skirmishes require a cautious approach, as surviving a skirmish without resources for the next one is pointless. Uncharted points, including bunkers, wartime ruins, mutant-infested forests, and treacherous swamps, are scattered throughout the area, promising both danger and value. Looted items can be sold or contracts can be completed for rewards, replenishing equipment. Zalesie, a settlement devastated by conflict and the Fog, is home to factions like the Strelok and the Muddiers, each defending their own vision. Horrible creatures, crazed marauders, radiation, and the Fog represent threats that constantly lead to death.
