Lay of the Land

Development has been progressing well over the past few weeks. Here\'s a look at what I\'ve been working on.Snowy Mountains BiomeIn this frigid biome you\'ll find tall barren mountains interspersed with pockets of snowy forest. Flows of ice lead down the steep slopes into river valleys. Its snowy conditions prevent most vegetation from calling this region home but a few hardy plants have managed to resist the icy conditions.New AnimalsThere are 3 new animals you can find in the Snowy Mountains. The Penguin, Big Horn Sheep and Polar Bear. Penguins spend their days wandering around the forest floor. Big Horn Sheep can be found in the forest or up in the mountains along with Polar Bears. These can be aggressive and love to hunt Penguins.New Building MaterialsWith a new type of tree comes a new wood type: Pine Log and Pine Planks. There is also Pine variants of all furniture and other wooden items. You can also gather and place Snow and Ice.MapThere is now an in game map that can be accessed with a Map item. The Map fills in as you explore and is used for easier navigation. Waypoints can be added to the map by selecting the waypoint option when editing a Sign.

LocationsThere are 6 new points of interest to find in the Snowy Mountains Biome. These range from ancient keeps to abandoned towers and contain new loot for you to find. The new structures are:Bastion RuinsLumbermill RuinsChurch RuinsTower RuinsKeep RuinsAltar RuinsEnemiesThere are 4 new enemies that you can find in the Snowy MountainsGoulThese creatures love to throw whatever they can get their hands on at you and also pack a deadly punch.BeetleLook out for these nasty critters as they have a deadly has attack and pack a nasty bite.RemnantThese undead creatures can wield a variety of weapons including Shuriken\'s, Wands and Swords.SnowflakeBe on the lookout for these spiky creatures they have a frosty magical attack and don\'t take kindly to strangers.SpellsFrost BallThis spell fires a ball of icy energy dealing high damage and leaving a frosty residue .Frost RayThis powerful beam spell deals a high amount of damage and inflicts an icy effect on your enemies.LeapThis is a new early game spell that allows you to leap great heights. Just be sure to stick the landing ;)The Levitate spell has also seen an upgrade allowing you to out rip chunks of the world and hurl them at enemies.New WeaponsThere is a new weapon tier in the game: Titanium. This metal can be found underground in the Snowy Mountains and will be the highest tier in the game.Shuriken\'s have been added. This throwable weapon is made using a mould in a smeltery and deals higher damage than a bow and arrow but is more expensive to create.Also, there are 2 new artifacts to find.Gas Mask: Helps you to breathe in poison gas, but only for a short period of time.Iridium Ring: Reduces the chance of being set on fire or frozen.Ice CavesThe Ice Caves biome can now be found in the Snowy Mountains. These frigid caverns are filled with glowing mushrooms, icy obstacles and provide easy access to Titanium Ore.New MusicThe game now has all new music that has a much more whimsical and happier tone really tying the game together.Combat BalanceThe game has had a large balance pass making combat a bit easier for new players while still keeping a good level of challenge.UI/QOL ImprovementsThere have been a large number of various improvements to many aspects of the game improving overall player experience and usability.
