Description
Shadows of the Afterland is a comedic supernatural adventure set in Madrid in the 1960s. The central figure of the narrative is a disembodied spirit possessing the memories of a police officer named Carolina. The central paradox is that this woman has not yet been born. The protagonist, a ghost unable to recognize her own face, must confront sinister forces and uncover the circumstances of her impending demise. The story explores complex themes of identity, fate, and human nature, offering a mature perspective on phenomena such as addiction and murder.
The gameplay is built on solving logical puzzles that are tightly woven into the narrative. The mechanics of possessing living beings are a key element of interaction with the material world, as each controllable character possesses unique skills and limitations. The progression of Shadows of the Afterland revolves around constantly moving between reality and the afterlife. To unravel the mystery, the protagonist must:
- use the bodies of the living to manipulate physical objects.
- communicate with other inhabitants of the afterlife to gain information.
- find solutions to problems whose consequences reverberate in both worlds.
