Legacy of Kain Ascendance

Legacy of Kain Ascendance is a side-scrolling game with Metroidvania elements, whose combat system relies on vertical maneuvering. The sixth installment of the saga radically changes perspective, opting for pixel art instead of 3D space. Exploring locations requires careful energy management for air dashes, which are replenished only after the protagonist lands. Story sequences are told through cutscenes stylized in Asian animation. Fragments of the mythology are revealed through polygonal sections reminiscent of early consoles. The aesthetic of crumbling kingdoms is perfectly complemented by composer Claytons industrial soundtrack. Michael Bell, Simon Templeman, Anna Gunn, and Richard Doyle once again provide the dialogue.

The narrative timeline covers the dark period before the events of Soul Reaver. A walkthrough of Legacy of Kain: Ascendance reveals a fading Nosgoth through the eyes of four characters. Shattered timelines conceal a vast array of complex spatial obstacles. Overcoming these obstacles requires the use of specific supernatural talents. The scenario forces gamers to constantly adapt to rapidly changing conditions. Vampires must skillfully combine deadly attacks with tactical retreats. The environment seamlessly intertwines thoughtful exploration with brutal confrontations. Successful completion of the campaign directly obliges players to master the unique arsenal of each warrior.
