Seal of Shadows

Seal of Shadows is a side-scrolling hack and slash RPG released in June 2026 by solo developer Cris Litvin, drawing on classic arcade brawler design to deliver a 2D action experience with modern RPG depth. The game places players inside a broken dark fantasy world and tasks them with fighting through nightmarish hordes using one of three playable classes that each handle combat through a different weapon and ability set. A hand-crafted campaign spanning more than 20 hours gives the experience a strong sense of authored progression rather than relying on procedural generation to pad its length.

Co-op play is a central part of how Seal of Shadows was designed, with support for up to three players sharing a screen through local sessions or Steam Remote Play Together. The drop-in system lets additional players enter an ongoing session at any moment without resetting progress or interrupting the flow of a fight, making it easy to pick up and play casually with others. Cris Litvin also built character customization into the progression, allowing players to shape their chosen class through gear choices and build decisions as they move deeper into the campaign. Seal of Shadows is available on Windows 10 and requires a Dual Core processor, a DirectX 11 graphics card, and 14GB of free storage space to run.
