Ritter and Rotwein

Ritter and Rotwein is an indie action-adventure game from Hurdy Gurdy Games, where you control ragdoll knights battling chaotic medieval challenges. Set in the 15th century, the game revolves around drunken knights reminiscing about glorious duels while striving for riches, ladies, and truth as they navigate increasingly challenging levels. The game's core mechanics revolve around mastering ragdoll physics, allowing you to jump, run, dodge, climb, and fight your unstable character, which obeys the laws of physics. Combat is dynamic and depends on your weapon selection, armor weight, and character mass, making each encounter unpredictable.

You can restore health by drinking wine, though this temporarily reduces your knight's resilience, adding a risk-versus-reward element to the struggle for survival. The campaign mode allows you to customize your knight and prove your honor by completing levels and adhering to the knightly virtues. For competitive play, the PVP mode lets you battle friends in multiplayer or via Steam Remote Play with customizable gear. The game's charm lies in struggling with intentionally clunky controls while trying to maintain dignity amidst medieval chaos.
