Primus

Primus Numen is a grid based tactical RPG from developer Ethan Clarke, published by Stone & Steel. The game is a dark fantasy tactical experience where positioning and planning decide the outcome of every fight.

The player controls a small party on grid based maps. Each turn means choosing where to move, who to target and when to commit. Fights reward preparation, and the map stays readable enough that clever play shows immediately.

Class combinations add depth. Two classes can merge into a hybrid, so a Rogue and a Mage become a Shadow Wizard, while a Knight and a Priest become a Stalwart Cleric. The hybrid draws skills from both classes, with stats based on one of them.

Team building offers several directions. Heavy frontline pressure, ranged damage, control setups or balanced groups all work, and there is no single correct answer. The game leaves the composition up to the player.

Enemies behave with intent. The AI pushes the player to adapt, with some foes forcing repositioning and others punishing mistakes. A few need to be removed quickly before they grow into a bigger problem.

Evil Mode gives battles a second life. After winning a fight, the player can replay it from the enemy side for extra rewards that benefit the main party. It adds variety without breaking the balance of the campaign.

The Nexus Beast is a wild card. At key moments the party can merge to summon this powerful unit, but it damages the group while it stays. Keeping it around for one more turn is a gamble that can turn the battle or break the party.

The current version is the 17 August 2026 build, tagged Build 24687549. It is a full release packed in an ISO image and ready to install. The title is available on Steam under the Stone and Steel label.
