Description

The Longing — this story began in 2012 when the developer Anselm Piet visited Germany and visited the so-called Barbarossa Cave. According to legend, the famous German monarch Barbarossa did not die, but sleeps in this very cave in order to wake up after some time and again take his throne. All this time his peace is supposedly guarded by a lonely servant. Not everyone would see the basis for a video game in this plot. But Pete thought in an original way he set about trying to make a game about this very servant. Legend he is mentioned in passing, with just one phrase but the developer had enough to seriously become interested in the fate of this character.

About This Game

The name of the game, The Longing, is a reference to the legend. When Barbarossa wakes up, he must put an end to all longing. Accordingly, the expectation of his awakening is the longing. As the developer admits, the idea to make a game of loneliness, of course, came to him not by chance, at that time he lived for a long time completely alone, and in the basement. In the same period of his life, he became interested in music of the Dungeon Synth genre, and it formed the basis of the unusual sound of the game. Pita, previously engaged in exclusively free games, himself worked on the game design, visual style, animation and sound of The Longing. Only a technical artist and programmer helped him. The developer created the backgrounds in Photoshop, and used the good old Flash to create the animation.

Installation Guide

Step-by-step setup process for CODEX

  1. Open the .iso with a virtual drive program (e.g. Daemon Tools) — on Windows 10/11 a double click mounts it on its own.

  2. Install the game by running setup.exe and following the wizard.

  3. After installation, copy the entire contents of the CODEX folder from the disc into the game folder and agree to replace the files.

  4. Start the game through its usual shortcut, preferably as administrator.

    Update 2:-Eternal WAIT screen fix (at last?)-Punished unjustly for manipulation-not being able to hack the walls in the home at all-Door next to Stalactite not interactable in autowalk (slightly better)-Achievement fixes for dream and bed-Spider not webbing fixed-Some crash prevention built in-Real-time/Multiplier turn on/off via the hourglass (will be turned off on start automatically, because some people activated it unknowingly)
