Description

Underponder — developed by one person since December 2015, is a first-person computer puzzle platformer game with a strange and exciting atmosphere that evokes a sense of confusion and loneliness while wandering in a strange space of mind known only as The Underponder. Without a visible user interface, the player crawls on different levels in search of tips on how to move forward. At the end of each card is a cinematic video. These videos develop the story, gradually unraveling the mystery. Along with the familiar keyboard binding setting known to every FPS player in the world, the game has a unique game mechanics based on hearing.

About This Game

The character has the ability to close his eyes and focus on the environment without vision. During concentration, some things will happen and some may happen. For example, some sounds can only be heard with your eyes closed. Since there are no enemies to face, the game focuses on strange puzzles, atmosphere and basic stories. As a tribute to all the games that the developer played in the 90's, the game is quite gloomy, relentless and sometimes harsh. Instant death is the most common type of danger, so it takes some skill and patience to get through the game without a complete mental breakdown.

Installation Guide

Step-by-step setup process for CODEX

  1. Open the .iso with a virtual drive program (e.g. Daemon Tools) — on Windows 10/11 a double click mounts it on its own.

  2. Install the game by running setup.exe and following the wizard.

  3. After installation, copy the entire contents of the CODEX folder from the disc into the game folder and agree to replace the files.

  4. Start the game through its usual shortcut, preferably as administrator.
