Description

Ancient Frontier is a science-fiction game in the style of turn-based strategy. Here you have to go to conquer the vast outer space, gradually destroying the enemy and coping with all the difficulties on the way. You find yourself in a far future, where mankind maximally promotes all advanced technologies, trying to develop them as much as possible. Colonized is also included in their range of activities, which is why the vast number of distant and intimate planets was conquered. As you progress through the game process, you will have the opportunity to explore each world, get acquainted with different civilizations, explore the planets and conquer the atmosphere.

Try not to make enemies, and if so, do everything possible to eliminate them. In addition, you must engage in diplomatic activities, creating strong and friendly relations with other peoples and civilizations. Fight with insidious pirates, and also take up the plunder of space caravans, in order to replenish your arsenal with valuable items and powerful tools.

Installation Guide

Step-by-step setup process for CODEX

Open the .iso with a virtual drive program (e.g. Daemon Tools) — on Windows 10/11 a double click mounts it on its own.
Install the game by running setup.exe and following the wizard.
After installation, copy the entire contents of the CODEX folder from the disc into the game folder and agree to replace the files.
Start the game through its usual shortcut, preferably as administrator.

Having trouble launching the game?

Check these common causes before troubleshooting further.

The steam_api64.dll and other files from the CODEX folder are the heart of the release — if your antivirus removes them, restore them from quarantine and exclude the game folder.
CODEX releases run fully offline. For safety, block the game .exe in your firewall so it never tries to reach Steam.
Errors about missing d3dx9_43.dll or MSVCP140.dll mean the runtimes were skipped — install everything from the disc's Redist or _CommonRedist folder.

Ancient Frontier Patch 1.11:Greetings Commanders!This is a small follow up patch to the release of the new DLC, and only makes two changes:First, we have performed another round of optimization. This should allow the game to run better on people running with only 8GB of RAM. You also may notice slightly shorter loading screens.Second, we should have fixed a bug that could cause the \"Launch\" button to become obscured on some resolutions with the new DLC.We hope you enjoy these updates, and thank you for playing our game!** Edit: Also fixed a bug where when loading old saves crew were not available for purchase. You can now purchase crew from the store in your old saves as well as new games.
