Monarchy — you will ascend to the throne of a king or queen and rule your kingdom, defending it from enemies, managing limited resources and completing unique tasks. The game starts with a simple tutorial without text, all instructions are given through icons and visual cues. You begin your reign on horseback, exploring forests, finding gold coins and building structures that will help protect the lands from nightly attacks of enemies. The main gameplay is based on exploration, resource management and defense. Day after day, you expand your territory, find chests of gold and build fortifications that protect residents from bandit raids. Each night, the waves of enemies become stronger, armored warriors and siege weapons are added, requiring thoughtful tactics for defense.

To survive, you need to wisely distribute funds and find a balance between building defensive structures, hiring new subjects and extracting resources. Gradually, you unlock more buildings, such as farms for gold mining and fortifications to protect against enemies. A unique part of the game is the technology tree, presented as an obelisk, allowing you to make improvements and choose from several development directions. Figuring out which one to choose is only possible through trial and error, which adds an element of exploration and surprise to the game. On the graphic side, Monarchy offers a beautiful visual style with bright details and an atmospheric change of time of day. The forests darken as you delve deeper into the thicket, and the buildings and actions of the subjects delight with attention to detail.
