The unique mechanic is the Affection and Influence system. Instead of standard experience points, characters gain power through successfully resolved interpersonal conflicts and supportive dialogue choices, boosting their primary skills and unlocking joint abilities. Progression involves exploring semi open world zones to locate the Seven Relics, artifacts tied to each character's past, which unlock permanent passive bonuses and move the central plot forward.
