Chess Texas

Chess Texas is a strategy game from Studio Apollo that blends traditional chess with open-world Wild West adventures. You travel through a handcrafted frontier filled with dusty saloons, desert outposts, and hidden chess rooms, challenging bandits and townspeople in strategic duels where each confrontation unfolds on a chessboard. Each town has a unique boss with its own puzzles that must be defeated to advance to the final showdown.

The game combines exploration and tactical gameplay, allowing you to interact with quirky NPCs, uncover local legends, and discover items throughout the world that provide advantages during duels. Combinations include classic chess, Fischer Random, and specialized AI opponents that test various strategic skills. A stylized cowboy aesthetic ties together the narrative adventure and turn-based strategy mechanics.

You'll need to rely less on quick reflexes or traditional combat and more on outwitting your opponents by solving themed chess puzzles. Exploration rewards players with tools and clues scattered throughout towns, camps, and routes. Essentially, it's a Western-style tactical puzzle game where mastery of the chessboard is the only way to conquer the frontier.
