Maelstrom The Battle for Earth Begins Enhanced transports players to the distant future, specifically to the year 2050, when an environmental disaster occurred. As a result, much of the Earth was flooded, forcing people to evacuate to underground shelters. Against this backdrop, a fierce war broke out between two powerful factions the Remnants and the Corporation. Each has its own strengths, and neither is willing to give up a single inch of territory. But then the Hai Genti, an alien race on the brink of extinction, appear on the scene. They exterminate all those involved in the conflict and take control of the territory.

Each faction represented in Maelstrom The Battle for Earth Begins Enhanced has a complex array of technologies, weapons, and other systems. The player's goal is to lead one side to victory. This is a lengthy process, so players must begin by accumulating resources, building bases, and constructing defensive structures. This doesn't mean you should always sit tight in your own territory and try to fight back with your last bit of strength. Once your army has accumulated sufficient firepower, you can begin launching sorties and raids into enemy territory. Soldiers are divided into several classes, each with different weapons, perks, and combat capabilities. Therefore, it's essential to be mindful of the plan your squad is choosing and how to utilize the soldiers provided. The Corporation, for example, has combat robots that can be deployed to breach defenses, while the aliens, on the other hand, can overwhelm you with sheer numbers.
