The Family Trip is a psychological thriller with a narrative focus, centered around a family trip to a remote forest cottage. The protagonist and his parents are hoping for a peaceful weekend, but an oppressive sense of loneliness quickly gives way to the realization that they are being watched by an unknown observer. Visuals reminiscent of the PlayStation 1 era heighten the atmosphere of discomfort and down-to-earth dread. The absence of supernatural elements allows the focus to be on human cruelty and the terrifying uncertainty amidst the dense forest. Interaction with the world and the development of events occur through:
- activating a microphone that detects voices and ambient noises;
- carefully examining inventory items to advance the story;
- navigating dark locations in search of light sources;
- performing sequential actions from a first-person perspective.
The narrative rhythm in The Family Trip fosters a deep immersion in a state of anxious anticipation, where silence becomes an instrument of pressure in its own right. After software updates, the project demonstrates stability, including correct display on two monitors and no errors upon launch. The slow movement emphasizes the character's vulnerability to the hidden threat lurking in the shadows. The finale of this journey promises to be a difficult test, testing one's ability to maintain composure in complete isolation.
