Funnel Runners

Supernova Studios has launched the co op survival game Funnel Runners into Early Access on Steam. A group of up to eight players attempts to repair a van and escape an American suburb before a tornado engulfs them. The concept sounds simple, but behind it lies a tight survival mechanic with increasing pressure from the elements. The developers deliberately position the game as a survival horror rather than a pure co-op puzzle game. The tornado here is not a background threat or decoration, but a living pursuer with its own dynamics. It moves across the map, intensifies over time, and can split into two: at some point, a single vortex becomes insufficient. This fundamentally changes the pace the team is forced to constantly monitor the position of the elements, rather than simply methodically collect parts

A set of tools is provided for navigating the chaos. A radar shows where the funnel is currently spinning. A flashlight helps you rummage through dark buildings in search of spare parts. A defibrillator can literally bring a partner back from the brink of death. Besides the tornado itself, lightning and fires pose a threat, and under certain conditions, something resembling a full-blown hurricane can form on the map. The core gameplay loop is built around exploration. Players spread out across the suburbs, searching houses and garages for spare tires, oil, and other items needed to repair the van. It sounds routine, but the tornado doesn't wait. This constant pressure turns mundane resource gathering into something intense: stray too far and you risk not making it back; linger in one place and the tornado is already upon you.

According to available information, the game is already fully playable, and Early Access was a deliberate choice: the studio wants to shape the content together with the audience. Plans include new locations, additional weather events, challenging progression, and new types of missions. The estimated Early Access time is about a year. The co-op survival game market is overcrowded. But Funnel Runners takes a specific niche environmental horror and builds almost the entire gameplay loop around it, with no zombies, no monsters, no otherworldly elements. Just wind. Very fast, very big, very angry. For eight friends who've been looking for a reason to yell into voice chat not about bosses but about the weather, this might be just the thing.
