The Faraway King

Thank you for your interest in The Faraway King. The current Early Access version should be free of major bugs (unless you discover one), but I'm expecting the final game to feel like a big step up in terms of narrative engagement and player interest in what you're meant to be doing. So you're welcome to Wishlist and wait for a demo that starts at the start of the story, but if you're happy to buy me half a coffee in exchange for 3 hours of somewhat WIP experimental narrative exploration gameplay, here it is.

See the Extended Gameplay Trailer above (second video) for a clear idea of typical gameplay. Having journeyed to the nation of Yoom to find The Faraway King and get his life back on track, J.D. finds his quest entwined with that of the mysterious and inexplicable Zxtabella. Helping her locate The Seven Alterationstasks of unclear purpose, for an unknown masterappears to be the only way he can find the legendary "king". But with only her vague and cryptic clues to go on, it won't be straightforward.

On the way to their eventual goal, they'll meet fishermen, artists, and members of a bureaucratic cult, they'll investigate the mystical secrets buried in the ancient history of Yoom, and they'll each find a new direction in their lives, depending on the choices you make.

Travel the Yoom map by motorbike, using Zxtabella's psychic visions to narrow down the location of the Alterations to a forgotten cabin in a distant town or a remote spot in a vast woodland. Or try a road at random and who knows what you'll find? As they approach each Alteration, we join them in 3D, working towards their goal, uncovering the mystical secrets of Yoom, and collecting ponchos.

Out of Time Interactive is currently Alex Franks, who has previously worked in various capacities for games companies including Sony, King, Ubisoft, and SEGA. More recently, for Nexus Studios, he has contributed to site specific audio visual works for the ABBA Arena and The Sphere (Las Vegas), and helped develop Meta's metaverse. Control pad input works, but has only been tested with one pad. Switching between pad and keyboard/mouse may cause minor bugs but is generally fine.
