Skatesterre

Skatesterre is a fast paced arcade skateboarding game from developer Goon Squad, published by Headup. The game draws on the golden era of classic skate titles from the early 2000s, and it plays with the same speed and flow.

The player takes the role of Sterre Meijer, a Dutch skateboarder known in the scene as Surfsterre. The streets, parks and urban playgrounds are packed with rails, ramps and hidden lines, and each map encourages creative routes over straight lines.

The controls are tight and easy to pick up. The learning curve comes from the combo system, which rewards linking tricks together into long chains. Kickflips, grabs, manuals and grinds combine into big score multipliers, and chasing the perfect run is the main draw.

Missions give the game structure. Objectives push the player through levels, and completing them unlocks new fashion pieces. Outfits and gear change the look of the character, so building a personal style is part of the progression.

High scores keep the arcade spirit alive. Every trick matters when a combo is building, and the leaderboard mentality fits the genre. Rerunning a level to beat a previous score feels natural.

The soundtrack leans on underground skate punk and skate rock. The music carries the energy of the games that inspired the project, and it fits the pace of the action on screen.

Levels vary in layout and theme. Rails, ramps, gaps and secret routes reward players who learn the flow of each map. Experimentation is the point, and hidden lines give return visits a purpose.

The movement model favors speed and momentum. A well timed manual keeps the chain alive, and landing clean after a big trick feeds the multiplier. Players who master the timing will see their scores climb quickly.

The current version is the 17 August 2026 build, tagged Build 24690614. It is a full release packed in an ISO image and ready to install. The title is available on Steam under the Headup label.
