Explorers of Esmar is a city building strategy in real time, where ambitious ancient leaders rush to unexplored shores to found powerful colonies. The central place in the gameplay is occupied by the development of the island of the same name, which requires the protagonist to thoughtfully build infrastructure from scratch. The economic stability of the settlement directly depends on the competent placement of farms and mines, which form multi-stage production cycles for the processing of raw materials into valuable goods. An important component of prosperity is demographic control implemented through the construction of residential quarters to attract new residents. Citizens not only provide the logistics of resources, but also serve as the basis for the formation of a regular army capable of protecting borders and expanding state influence.

Effective domination of procedurally generated landscapes is impossible without the capture of strategic heights and the construction of watchtowers. Strengthening of positions allows establishing control over deposits of rare materials, since the mining of minerals is strictly limited to subordinate territories. In Explorers of Esmar, tactical superiority is achieved by maneuvering military units and systematically pushing opponents out of important areas of interest. The competitive element is revealed in battles that support the presence of up to 8 people at the same time, or in the confrontation of artificial intelligence in single mode. The constant variability of conditions on random maps forces the defense doctrine to be adapted to the specifics of the area. Direct influence on the development of the project from the side of the active community turns the classic genre foundation into a relevant and live digital experience.
