Floppy Knights

Floppy Knights — is a humorous game that combines elements of strategy and tactical games, enriched with elements borrowed from card games. The project was developed by the independent studio Rose City Games, whose portfolio includes The World Next Door. The idea for this, as well as the concepts for other works by this group, was born during one of the game jams. Floppy Knights takes us on a journey into a fantasy world. Who is trying to earn enough money to move away from her parents. Being a talented inventor and programmer, the girl designed Carlton, a bionic arm capable of turning worn-out floppy disks into titular knights. This skill proves to be extremely useful when all sorts of monsters appear on the ground that our hero encounters.

About This Game

In Floppy Knights, the action is shown from a bird’s eye view. The pillar of the game is the tasks that Phoebe performs for the inhabitants of the earth, which boil down to combat battles with various monsters. Collisions take place in turn-based mode, in arenas covered with a grid of square fields. The protagonist does not directly participate in the battle, but uses the units that he receives during the game. At first glance, her assistants are not much different from enemies. Suffice it to say that among the knights goblins and other fantastic creatures are in the lead. However, each of them has unique abilities using them correctly is the key to success, as the number of units called into the battlefield is limited by the amount of energy available. But it doesn’t stop there, because in each round we also play cards collected during the adventure among them we will find those that allow us to move warriors around the arena, as well as those that will strengthen a specific attack, heal one of our subordinates or weaken a specific enemy. Success also depends on the composition of such a deck of cards that will work well in any situation. Floppy Knights strong point is the hand-drawn graphics, behind which is Marlow Dobbe, visual designer of Dicey Dungeons. The game is played to the accompaniment of chiptune music.
