• Unlike other games that use only ready-made animations or use very simplistic rules, our character moves as if he is aware of his surroundings and obeys their forces. The character is constantly figuring out what muscle strength needs to be exerted to keep himself upright and keep his balance. This makes communication more diverse and interesting.
• If Stan is standing on an object that suddenly starts moving, you’ll see him shift his weight to keep his balance, using his arms to prop himself up if necessary. If he’s thrown into a wall—or a wall is thrown at him—he’ll brace himself for the impact by stretching in the direction he’s coming from.
• The balancing algorithm has been hand-tuned to provide amazing responsiveness and flexibility. Every move Stan makes is unique to the situation he’s facing, and while sometimes he gets it comically wrong, other times he does things that even surprise us. He often does things we don’t expect, and it seems like he’s improvising his movements in real time.
• Choose from many large outdoor play areas to test Stan’s abilities. Roll down hills, climb mountains, jump over chasms or swim in the ocean.
• Unleash your creativity in sandbox mode by designing intricate gadgets, levels and challenges — your imagination is the limit. Enjoy a wide arsenal of tools, hazards and building blocks designed for your convenience by RunTime Industries; place them as you like, weld them together, connect them with flexible joints, attach powerful engines, etc.
• Immerse yourself in a world that is fully physically modeled, right down to the items your character is holding. Objects react to the world with friction, buoyancy, and gravity to ensure proper physical interaction.
• Realistic reproduction of audio samples using calculations based on the object’s material, mass, speed and carbon at the time of impact. We use Steam Audio to distribute audio in real-time to ensure maximum audio detail. Put on the headphones to enjoy binaural sound that transports you into a sound environment.
